"Il bar sotto il mare" by Italian author Stefano Benni is a collection of humorous and fantastical short stories that are connected by the common theme of a bar located beneath the sea. Each story features a diverse cast of characters, often with absurd and surreal elements, and explores various aspects of human nature and society. Stefano Benni is known for his witty and satirical writing style, and "Il bar sotto il mare" is no exception, offering readers a blend of humour, social commentary, and imaginative storytelling.

The design of these covers was developed during the 'Book design' workshop held by graphic designer and author Riccardo Falcinelli in October 2022 at Scuola Holden in Turin. The purpose of this workshop was twofold: to learn how to look at and how to design book covers, studying how to compose and crop images, up to the techniques of iconographic research and management of the creative process. There was both theory and practice, but practice clearly prevailed, so that by the end of the workshop more than one cover had been designed.
